Version MPLAB X works on Linux as well as Windows, so I decided to load it on my Laptop running Linux Mint. This means getting to grips with Microchip’s MPLAB integrated development environment once again, as a PIC16F676 is sitting in a draw awaiting its instructions. The analogue parts of the control circuit have proved reliable, and it could now really do with the planned embedded controller to allow remote dimming via multiple rotary quadrature encoders.
